Kerry Max Cook was born in Stuttgart, Germany into an Army family, and spent much of his youth on Army bases. He returned to the United States with his family in 1972 to live in Texas. In 1977, at age 19, he was arrested and wrongly convicted of capital murder, a crime for which he would spend the next two decades on death row, only to be cleared of all charges in 1999.
After gaining freedom Mr. Cook has been an outspoken advocate for legal reform. He has lectured at Princeton, Yale, and the University of Chicago, as well as internationally. Kerry Max Cook appeared in the critically acclaimed play The Exonerated, based in part on his story, and the movie rights to his astonishing story have been sold, with interest from A-list actors. Cook is a charismatic speaker whose previous media appearances include: Nightline (1999), Geraldo (2000), Catherine Crier Live (2002), The Today Show (2003), and Frontline (2004). However, the publication of CHASING JUSTICE marks the first time that Cook will talk about his story in its entirety.
Kerry Cook lives outside Dallas, Texas and is the proud father of Kerry Justice "KJ" Cook.
